Marigold (Tagetes species)
Marigold flowers exists in many colors (White, yellow, orange, maroon, mahogany, and creamy yellow). They are very dependable, grow quickly and easily, have a long blooming season, and make excellent cut flowers. Use for edging, borders and place in containers. Grows 6 inches to 4 feet, likes full sun or afternoon shade. Good for well drained soil. (Hardy to +10 degrees F).
Zinnia (Zinnia elegans)
Chosen for its speed of growth, durability, range of heights and color (Whites, cream, green, pale pink and other hot colors. Likes heat (full sun) and well drained soil. Grows 6 inches to 4 feet. (Hardy to -30 degrees F).
Geranium (Pelargonium x hortorum)
Very popular and reliable plant for both bedding and potting. Has rounded leaves and big, round clusters of flowers. Season long blooms come in reds, pinks, and white. Good for full sun or light shade. Soil should be neutral or slightly alkaline. Grows 1 1/2 to 3 feet tall. (Hardy to +30 degrees F)
Cosmos Cosmos spp.)(
Produces daisylike flowers in maroon, white, pink and sometimes yellow. The centers are red-brown or yellow with feathery leaves. Likes full sun and dry or well drained soil. Grows 1 up to 6 feet. (Hardy to 0 degrees F)
Moss Rose (Portulaca grandiflora)
Rose-like flowers with bright color and flat, short, soft leaves like needles. Grows 4 to 8 inches. Likes full sun and sandy, dry soil. (Hardy to -10 degrees F)
Dusty Miller (Centaurea cineraria)
Produces silvery-grey, woolly, filigreed foliage. Grows 8 to 24 inches tall. Likes full sun and well drained, rich soil. (Hardy to 0 degrees F)
